Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas (born October 13, 1980 in Glen Clove, New York, United States ), professionally known as Ashanti, is a Grammy Award-winning American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, poet, actress, and fashion designer who rose to fame in the early 2000s. She is also acclaimed, along with Ciara, as the "Princess of hip hop and R&B."
