Homogeneous is the third studio album by Icelandic artist Björk.

"Looking back, it is easy to see how Homogeneous paved the way for later career triumphs such as Vespertine and Vulnicura: in its formal boldness and sustained emotional intensity, it represents a phase change to debut and post, as good as they were. The album, produced by Björk, Mark Bell, Guy Sigsworth, Howie B and Markus Dravs, marked a stylistic change in their artistic work. The emphasis was on similar-sounding music, combining electronic beats and string instruments with songs as a tribute to their native Iceland.

"Homogeneous" was originally supposed to be produced in their house in London, but was later recorded in Spain. It was the first of several production collaborations between Björk and Mark Bell, whom she described as a major influence on her musical career.

"As a music nerd, I just had to follow my heart, and my heart was the beats that were popular in England. And the older I get, the more I understand that music like Kate Bush really influenced me. Brian Eno. Acid. Electronic beats. Labels like Warp. And if there is such a thing as a music tree in pop music, I see myself on the same branch … I call it 'matriarch of electronic music'.
