The album "Superfluity" looks at the future. In the long run, love and even life itself are just the abundance of stars and planets, boulders and gas orbiting the universe. We humans tend to focus only on our own little life, neglecting the world around us and its continuance. "It could be a garden!“

Aren't we lucky to be alive at all? We should really enjoy it.

The songs contain universes; it's been over 30 years since Camper Van Beethoven started recording records, and more than 25 years since Jonathan's first "solo" album "Storytelling" (1988), and all the music in between shapes the songs here. Jonathan brings a lot of guitars and basses, some violin and synthesizer as well as a lot of studio experience – including a pinch of Musique Concrète.

The drumming of Mattias Olsson (Änglagård, Pineforest Crunch, Necromonkey) and Chris Pedersen (Camper Van Beethoven, Monks of Doom), combined with the beautiful voice of Kelly Atkins (20 Minute Loop, Kitka), gives the tracks strength and at the same time simplicity and complexity. The deeper you dig, the more you discover.
