Safet Isović (6 January 1936 – 2 September 2007) was a prominent and popular sevdah performer from Bosnia and
Herzegovina.
Throughout his career, which started in 1956, Isović performed at music festivals and won many of them which has contributed
to the prevalence and popularity of the sevdalinka. He won the Golden Microphone award in SFR Yugoslavia as well as 35 silver
and gold record awards.
Its like Luciano Pavarotti. Safet Isovic is undoubtedly one of the biggest names from a galaxy of top performers of folk
music made by Bosnia and Herzegovina. Born in Bileca, nice town, as a boy delights his fellow citizens warm voice, and even
then, as if he was certain his life singers. But Safet wanted to become a professor. Guided by this desire comes to Sarajevo,
where since 1956 he enrolled in the Faculty of Philosophy. And maybe one day it would be a good teacher of English to a
student party at his colleagues were persuaded to participate in the contest amateur singers. It was the first public
appearance, the first success, first prize and the first step.
