Blackbeard (Dennis Bovell) - I Wah Dub (More Cut 1980) 24-bit/96kHz Vinyl Rip

The British reggae producer Dennis Bovell's second album, originally released in 1980, is a largely solo effort that follows in the dubwise footsteps of its predecessor. More imaginative yet less manic than his Jamaican counterparts King Tubby and Lee "Scratch" Perry, Bovell nevertheless has the essential dub producer's knack of playing the mixing desk like an instrument, and the wit and technique to keep his musical explorations consistently spellbinding.

Blackbeard is the alias of Dennis Bovell, the visionary punky-reggae producer and pioneer embraced by the punk rock movement. His highly praised second album, I Wah Dub, which further cemented his role as the dub pirate, has been described by Trouser Press as a ''creation of aurally pungent tracks infused with musical witticisms from merely excellent to brilliant.''
