Rage For Order is the second album by Queensrÿche and was released in 1986. While their debut album The Warning (1984) was still heavy influenced by the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) bands, most notably Iron Maiden, by now the band had crafted an own signature style that would later recognize them as pioneers of the progressive metal genre. The album broadens the metal genre with drum and sample loops, sound effects and keyboards for which producer Neil Kernon is also credited. While their music was plenty distinctive and experimental to set them apart from their competitors, the band also opted for a change in visual style. This resulted in a ridiculous glamorous vampire like style as seen on the back cover. A serious mistake as later admitted by the band themselves. This visual style distracted from the musical content and may have caused the initial lukewarm receipt of the album. In retrospect however, Rage For Order can be seen as the first real Queensrÿche album and is among the highest regarded from their catalogue.
