Fantastic swedish AOR in the vein of Jim Jidhed, Last Autumns Dream or Radioactive! Mikael Erlandsson is a singer, songwriter and keyboardist born in Gothenburg, Sweden. He recorded four solo albums which has also been released in Japan and the Far East. He is also known in Europe since his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003.
Since 2002 he has been fronting Swedish/German band Last Autumn’s Dream and he has been chosen for various AOR projects like Tommy Denander’s “Radioactive”, “Northern Light” and “Heartbreak Radio”. Erlandsson’s solo debut 1994 album ‘The 1’ utilized the services of guitarists Morgan Hjalmarsson, Bengt Sanbolm and M.P. Persson. Bass came from Stigge Ljunglöf.
If ever an album was worth buying for a couple of tracks only it’s this one. Opener “Wish You Were Here” is utterly magnificent. Emotion-filled pure AOR at it’s finest,it sounds remarkably like the opener on Jim Jidhed’s “Full Circle” album (entitled “I Will Never Leave You Now”). Album closer “The 1” is also stunning,better than the re-recorded version on the Last Autumns Dream album (Erlandsson’s vocals have never sounded as good as they do here).
