Dick Dia has the distinction of being a mandolin virtuoso, a brilliant arranger, and a skillfull conductor. In these three capacities he has been heard throughout the US in top night clubs, hotels, theaters, on radio and television. His starring appearances include performances with leading personalities and top enternainers. His popularity has been such that he has to his credit standing-room-only stints at outstanding establishments like Cafe Society, Roma Di Notte, Le Directoire and The Carnival. By virtue of his versatility and his triple-threat talents he is known in the trade as a "first call" man. Born in New York, Dia devoted his early studies to the violin, and later acquired mastery on the guitar and mandolin. For many years he has directed his own orchestra, meanwhile holding forth as musical director of Radio Station WOV in New York City. He has a solid reputation as a specialist in Italian music, although his abilities as performer, arranger and conductor encompass music of every nationality
