Dirty Romance Novels was formed by Cole Lewis and Mike Krube in January 2013. They started out as a side project after Mike’s previous band Reno Sweeny came to an end. The idea for the band came from a Django Reinhardt song – j attendrai, the song was so full and it was just guitar and piano, and since Mike and Cole both came from a background of bigger bands they decided to start a two piece. After the first show at the beat coffee house they realized that they were lacking a low tone so they recruited Kevin Margo a former member of reno sweeny on upright bass.
