Eric McFadden does AC/DC : tout est dit dans le titre et, à vrai dire, la surprise est totale. Bon, à vue de nez, un type que l’on cherche à nous présenter comme le maître du voodoo gypsy blues décidant de tripatouiller en acoustique le répertoire d’Angus Young et ses amis, et singeant la pochette de Powerage pour couronner le tout, ça devrait nous faire quand même trois bonnes raisons de fuir au plus vite. Tout faux ! Pourvoyeur de riffs s’il en est, Eric McFadden a parfaitement compris qu’AC/DC ne se résumait pas à des rythmiques ou à des riffs, justement. Dès lors, dans ses mains et dans sa voix, quand le blues ne remonte pas à la surface plus souvent qu’à son tour, la solennité de “Hells Bells” se fait incantation, “Beatin’ Around the Bush” carbure au kérosène du bluegrass, “Touch Too Much” touche en plein cœur grâce à l’ajout d’un violon, et ainsi de suite. La partie est gagnée. Have a drink on me, buddy !
