Lightscape - Circles (EP) (2017)

Lightscape this week release their new EP, Circles. Hailing from Norwich, this five piece have been making some bold moves, being featured on Kerrang’s New Blood show and heading out on tour to sold out shows, this band has a lot of promise and there EP shows it, particularly track, ‘By Design’.

‘Circles’ makes clear why it’s the title track. A huge chorus delivered incredibly well, this band certainly know how to write something infectious and this track certainly is proof of this. In contrast tracks such as ‘I Haven’t Got The Time’ slow down the pace and really highlight the tones of Will Overton’s vocals, which really get to shine on this track.

This band matches up melodically. The comparisons to bands such as Lower Than Atlantis and Mallory Knox make a lot of sense, as this band bring in strong drums and cool but subtle guitars on this EP that just work. This is particularly clear on tracks such as ‘Live In Fear’, but also on songs such as ‘By Design’ where the band really craft a fantastic melody that harmonises with the vocals brilliantly.

Circles continues this band’s progress towards greatness. An EP that captures this band’s incredible sound and a great vocalist too, Lightscape seem to be just getting started if this EP is anything to go by. Highlights for me on this record are ‘I Haven’t Got The Time’ and ‘Circles’ however this whole record is well worth a listen. ~ review by THINKINGLYRICALLY
