Irish siblings Lucy and Thomas Gaffney moved to Liverpool in their early 20s and played as the duo Southern, enjoying some success before Thomas fell ill and they were forced to return to Belfast. That shift must have been a positive one: now working out of a home studio they have made a sparkling debut album, tracks such as Gustav and Lazy Sun marrying a lush sound similar to French pop alchemists Phoenix, with some superbly individual touches of their own.
