The album contains songs composed for the performance Zarathustra directed and set design by Krystian Lupa (Stary Teatr, Kraków). Paweł Szymański caused this sensation by winning two of the highly prized music awards in Poland: the title of theatrical music of the year in the plebiscite of the monthly THEATER and the award for the best music for the film (Plac Zbawiciela) at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia!
Krystian Lupa, who also designed the album cover, writes in the introduction to it:
(…) We call Paweł Szymański's music "religious". And yet there is a need to revise this term right away. This music does not tell about religious facts (except sometimes through the words of a religious text) and does not want to be part of a religious ceremonial. Rather - similarly to Bach - Szymański's music does not express a religious experience, but it is an autonomous religious act. God is a fugue …
We call Paweł Szymański's music "contemplative", and yet the need for revision arises immediately (…) Because contemplation is a necessary, independent of us participation in being autonomous, which reveals itself before us. -google translate
