De nos jours, dans les Flandres, Demester et de jeunes gars du pays partent soldats dans un conflit lointain. Amoureux de la jeune Barbe, Demester supportait ses moeurs étranges et ses amants. Attendant les soldats, seule en Flandres, Barbe dépérit. Face à ce conflit, Demester se transforme en guerrier. Tragiquement, la guerre exacerbera les sentiments et les liens de ces deux êtres, les menant aux extrémités de leur condition…
Flanders (French: Flandres) is a 2006 French film written and directed by Bruno Dumont. It tells the story of Demester, a man whose girlfriend cheats on him out of frustration with his lack of emotion. Demester is then sent to war, in an unnamed Middle Eastern country, where he experiences (and participates in) the horrors of war.
