Kontroll (2003)

Kontroll is an interesting, offbeat film by Hungarian director Nimród Antal. All of Kontroll takes place underground in Budapest’s metro system. The main character, Bulcsú (Sándor Csányi), seems to be going through an existential crisis. Working as a ticket inspector during the day, Bulcsú refuses to leave the station even at night, as he struggles to understand through the microcosm of the subway the meaning of life, justice, work, and love. The story of Bulcsú and his team searching through the tunnels for a man pushing innocent victims in front of trains is exciting, humorous, and fast-paced. Un ragazzo di vent'anni, Bulcsú, dopo aver abbandonato una promettente carriera si ritrova a fare il controllore nella metropolitana perdendo contemporaneamente ogni contatto con la vita al di fuori di questa. La sua unica famiglia ora é il suo gruppo di controllori. Ma quando s'innamora di Szofi, la figlia di un macchinista, ritrova anche la forza di lottare per portare a termine i suoi progetti e conquistare la fiducia dei suoi superiori che l'avevano preso di mira dopo una serie di misteriose morti all'interno della metropolitana.
