Ce roman (1910) est inspiré de faits réels qui se sont déroulés à l’Opéra Garnier. Gaston Leroux se met dans la peau d’un enquêteur et son récit prend souvent une forme journalistique. Belle histoire romantique et haletante, au style un peu vieilli, dont on a tiré des adaptations de toute sorte (films, théâtre, comédies musicales…). Fantastique, amour, haine, suspens, tous les ingrédients du “polar”.
La Divina Commedia, originalmente Commedìa, è un poema di Dante Alighieri, capolavoro del poeta fiorentino, considerata la più importante testimonianza letteraria della civiltà medievale e una delle più grandi opere della letteratura universale.
Il libro narra di un gruppo di giovani, sette donne e tre uomini, che trattenendosi fuori città per dieci giorni (come descrive il titolo), per sfuggire alla peste nera, che imperversava in quel periodo a Firenze, raccontano a turno delle novelle di taglio spesso umoristico e con frequenti richiami all'erotismo bucolico del tempo. Per quest'ultimo aspetto, il libro fu tacciato di immoralità o di scandalo, e fu in molte epoche censurato o comunque non adeguatamente considerato nella storia della letteratura.
