Golden Age for this orchestra when they were in full force. The musical themes that are made are very interesting. I made this rip without mixing to mono. With respect to the original mono tracks. This was never released on CD, Cass or LP.

Armchair Theatre is the first solo album by Jeff Lynne, released in 1990. "Every little Thing" and "Lift Me Up" were released as singles. The album also features two classic cover versions "September Song" and "Stormy Weather" the latter recorded as a tribute to his late mother. The album re-united Lynne with Electric Light Orchestra's keyboard player Richard Tandy and fellow Traveling Wilburys member George Harrison.

When he expatriated to Scandinavia just before this session in Paris was recorded, Dexter Gordon said he was liberated in many ways, as a jazz musician and as a human being. This is reflected in the lengthy track on this album, a testament to that newly found freedom.

Harnoncourt eschews tradition for tradition’s sake in the symphony. He approaches the score afresh, and the result is a reading both idiomatic and illuminating. Harnoncourt coaxes sparkling detail from the interplay of strings and woodwinds and allows the lower brass to come through cleanly. Trombones punch out the melody at the end of the first movement and the timpani strokes are crisp. The second movement flows gently, with beautiful playing from the woodwinds gliding over a lush, glowing surface of strings. There is no wallowing or point-making in this rendition of the famous largo. The references to Beethoven and Smetana in the fleet scherzo do not call attention to themselves, and the finale is urgent and majestic.
