"When you don't have any money to go on holiday, you must make do by using your imagination," Debussy wrote, and the first two pieces in his triptych Estampes constitute an exotic travelog; the third piece is stay-at-home music, watching the rain. "Estampes" means print or engraving, and these three pieces are musical depictions of particular moments at particular locales. They also represent an interior journey of sorts, a newly personal idiom for Debussy, who is now seemingly unconcerned with the conventions and expectations of the salon and the concert hall.

The clarinetist Patrick Messina and the pianist Fabrizio Chiovetta invite us to a journey through Schumann's poetic universe, from romance to fantasy and to tale. What better way to convey the inexpressible imagination of a composer who never choses between sounds and words than the intimacy of chamber music and the mellow timbre of the clarinet ? The disc features works that pull the auditor into Robert Schumann's productive years and a transcription made by the artists for the clarinet, the indeal autumnal and lyrical instrument.

Mozart in Havana is a musical collaboration between Simone Dinnerstein and the Cuba Youth Symphony. The album may be her most ambitious to date and is a testament to music's ability to cross all cultural and language barriers. For it, Dinnerstein has collaborated with the virtuosic Havana Lyceum Orchestra to perform Mozart's Piano Concerto Nos. 21 and 23.

Nonesuch Records releases an album of Bach works recorded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolinist Chris Thile, and bassist Edgar Meyer, Bach Trios, on April 7, 2017. The album comprises works by J.S. Bach originally written for keyboard instruments, plus one sonata for viola da gamba. In 2011, Ma, Thile, and Meyer—along with Stuart Duncan—collaborated on The Goat Rodeo Sessions, which won two Grammy Awards.

Disciple of Vlado Perlemuter and Jean Hubeau, Michel Dalberto has stood out as a master and ardent defender of French music in the course of a forty-year career. His signature for the Aparté label of a series of recordings devoted to Debussy, Fauré, Ravel, and Franck marks his awaited return to discs.Each episode will be recorded live and accompanied by a video. This second release was recorded on a Bechstein piano at the Conservatoire d’Art Dramatique-Paris on 7 January 2017.

Sony Classical present Italian duets and arias with baroque stars Nuria Rial and Valer Sabadus. The Spanish soprano Nuria Rial and the countertenor Valer Sabadus are both stars of the booming baroque music scene. Nuria Rial is a bright soprano with her “addictive timbre“ and Valer Sabadus's velvety "dramatic, crystal clear and lyric voice" (Süddeutsche Zeitung) are for the first time united in one recording. With the excellent Kammerorchester Basel they send the listener on a voyage of discovery to Italy, to lesser known music by Alessandro Scarlatti, Giovanni Paolo Colonna, Giovanni Gabrieli, Antonio Lotti, Giovanni Battista Bononcini, Bernardo Pasquini and Antonio Caldara. The arias and duets are mainly from oratorios, which have already fascinated many listeners.

Steven Osborne’s solo Ravel for Hyperion has invited comparisons with the distinguished interpretations of the past; this new recording of the concertos is certain to win similar plaudits. The Falla is a generous and appropriate coupling, perfectly complementing these wonderful works.
