As a budget priced collection, this one's hard to turn down. An essential building block for any New Orleans collection.

Gene Autry's career in the entertainment industry spanned more than 60 years. He had moved from being a radio and recording artist in 1928 to becoming a major motion picture star by 1940, starring in some 90 movies. Autry also had his own television program, became a broadcast executive, and even owned a major league baseball team. HIS GREATEST HITS documents America's first and favorite singing cowboy. Such familiar tunes as "Back in the Saddle Again" "Silver Spurs" and "Cowboy Blues" highlight this collection. Autry's warm, campfire voice and his straightforward, good-natured honesty is quickly identifiable throughout. This is a superb musical overview of the original singing cowboy, and the tunes he made classic. Under the steady glow of the lights on a spartan stage, aka acoustic Hot Tuna, made it look easy on April 4th at the Paramount Theatre in Rutland Vermont. Yet during the course of the two roughly one-hour sets comprising this appearance near the end of their brief spring tour, the former guitarist and bassist for Jefferson Airplane illustrated how a duo setting is ideal to illustrate not just how difficult it is to play music well, but also how difficult it is to play music well with others.

A master luthier and a master slide guitar player, Seth Lee Jones is deeply dedicated to his craft and his instrument. If you don’t find him at his work bench building a custom piece of art, you will find him teaching others to build their own guitar. While his unique style of playing definitely stands out, his voice is equally powerful, evoking the memories of some of the greatest jazz/blues titans. Currently performing in a trio format, this is one red hot act that you don’t want to miss.

Out of the Spectacle” is the crystallization of a continuing collaboration between three Danish improvising musicians from three different generations, that places itself somewhere between textural improvisation, expressive free jazz and abstract soul. Alto saxophonist Jesper Zeuthen is a Danish legend, that got public attention already in the late 60’s for his work with the group “Blue Sun” and has continued to evolve his music through his own bands and his work with Jakob Bro, Anderskov Accident, Kasper Tranberg etc. Jacob Anderskov is one of the most outstanding voices on the piano and has, since his debut in 2001, received numerous awards for his music. He has worked with Michael Formanek, Chris Speed, Airto Moreira etc. In 2018 he is nominated for the Nordic Council Music Price.

Alexander Ramm is the winner of the Silver Medal at the XV Tchaikovsky International Competition, and has garnered prizes at numerous other musical competitions including the Cambridge International Boston Competition, Beijing International Music Competition and the National Music Competition (Moscow). To this day, Mr. Ramm is the only Russian finalist and laureate of the most prestigious Paulo Cello Competition in Helsinki.

Hell Boulevard have already made time with their debut and also their second work "In Black We Trust" appears with two years distance. When the number of beats so many other current band presents that is almost slow. However, I have the hope that the quality of the songs and the production is correspondingly high. There is also a change in the line-up between the two albums. New man on bass is Raul Sanchez (Ex Eyes Shut Tight). Also in the production, they have secured considerable support with Chris "The Lord" Harms of Lord of the Lost. The extended tours of recent years not only offered the opportunity to gather a lot of live experience, but also to make contacts with other artists and, in part, to benefit from their experience. Next up is a tour with MONO INC. and an own headliner tour.

Vladimir Anatolieyvych Horunzhy is a film producer and composer. In the late 70's led the Pop-Symphony Orchestra of Radio and Television of Ukraine. Moved to the U.S. in 1981. The first project, which he participated as a composer there, was the soap opera “Santa Barbara”. An active jazz musician, Vladimir performed at Soviet jazz festivals in Tallinn, Moscow, Donetsk and throughout the Soviet Union. At age 26 he became principal conductor and staff composer for the Ukrainian National TV and Radio Orchestra, Kiev.

After Liya Petrova won joint first prize at the 2016 Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition, jury President Nikolaj Znaider declared he had been 'absolutely blown away by how she had absorbed the Nielsen violin concerto - how it had become hers'. From her debut album on Orchid Classics you can hear just why she made such an impression on those who heard her performance. The Strad praised the 'iron will' Petrova brought to Nielsen's concerto; a fortitude which is matched on this recording by the sensitivity in her approach to the first violin concerto of Sergei Prokofiev.

New York musician David Poe has traveled the world making music, headlining his own shows and opening for a host of acts. So it should be no surprise that his latest album, Love Is Red, was recorded in a Berlin basement. Singer-songwriter David Poe's third album captures live performances in Berlin. The singer-songwriter and his trio were recorded in a straightforward style, to capture the energy and pulse of their music. That immediacy comes through on what's essentially a live album: the songs include four new tracks, along with live versions of previously released work. All three of Poe's full albums have been warmly received by the press. Love Is Red follows up his self-titled debut and 2002's The Late Album. Along the way, Poe has worked with T-Bone Burnett, guitarist Marc Ribot and drummer Sim Cain.
