Holly Cole explores a number of styles on her second album, Don't Smoke in Bed, without overreaching her grasp. Adding pop, blues, country, and a French ballad to her standard, low-key jazz, Cole demonstrates that not only does she have impeccable taste, but she has the talent to make all of the material sound convincing.

Album released in Spain compilation of 10 greatest hits of the Argentine folkloric group 'Los Chalchaleros' (Salta, 1948-2002), one of the most important its style outside and inside their country. The four founders were Juan Carlos Saravia, Aldo Saravia ('Chivo'), Carlos Franco Sosa ('Pelusa') and Victor Zambrano ('Cocho'). Los Chalchaleros were changing its members over the years, both because of the unfortunate demise of some and the withdrawal of others. In total the group went up to 10 members. TLos Chalchaleros have brilliantly walked worldwide best folk music of Argentina, in which especially the zamba, with chacarera, milonga, chamamé, valsesito, cueca, gato, etc.. always had a particular and shiny interpretation, only ended in 2002 after a career of more than half a century, during which they released more than fifty albums not counting compilations and anthologies.

Over four years since All (2008) and two years since recording started, it’s hard to believe that She Said, the new album by stoner/heavy psych masters Colour Haze is here! It’s been a long, gnarly road for the band to get to its completion. Original plans was for a February 2011 release, until a January press release revealed that there were defects in the recordings and they would have to re-record most of the album.

Aleksandr Tsiboulski is first-prize winner in numerous competitions including the 2006 Tokyo International Guitar Competition. His playing, which transcends the image of the technically flawless competition winner, has been praised by The Age for its ‘responsive virtuosity’, while the San Antonio Express News admired his ‘beautiful, transparent, lute-like sound’. On his début Naxos recording, he presents a diverse selection of music by leading Australian composers.

Ross Edwards violinconcerto "Mannyas" has a folk element and a rhythmic vitality that orchestra and soloist bring out well. The allegro passages of Maninyas have a Stravinskian-Reichian rhythmic-cellular thrust that Edwards transforms to suite his own total-harmonic palette and the aboriginal theme. The center chorale is tender and lyrical.

This CD compilation presents, on 8 discs, 17 recording sessions made between 1951 and late 1956 by the extraordinary trumpeter, leader, composer, and perpetual catalyst–Miles Davis. Featured in this collection are such major artists as Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Sonny Rollins, Lee Konitz, and the original Davis Quintet: John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones. The expanse of Miles Davis's recordings for Prestige Records, the California analogue to New York's Blue Note, is huge. In terms of artistic development, the eight CDs in this box span Davis's development from tentative searching through the full bloom of his first great quintet, whose frontline boasted Davis and a young John Coltrane.
