Of all the artists who passed through the cult-filled portals of the Vertigo label during the early '70s, few have attracted more attention than Ramases. His one and only album for the label, Space Hymns, was recorded with the nascent 10cc as backing musicians, but even more importantly, it represents one of the most spellbinding releases in the label's entire catalogue, a conceptual epic that actually leaves you believing that what Ramases himself believed was true – he really was the reincarnation of the Egyptian deity whose name he had adopted.

"The album is saying - it is ok to go insane, it can be quite cathartic actually, to watch yourself go out to the edge and sort of reel yourself back in - now hopefully you do reel yourself back in."

These late era analogue recordings are likely to be well known to many who collected LPs in the 1970s although they will not be quite as familiar as the contents of some of the other GROC series discs.
These are stereo ADD recordings. In the case of the Britten Sinfonia and the Grimes episodes the recordings derive from an LP first issued in dual compatible stereo and SQ quad. That LP was a celebrated hi-fi artefact with the clean satin openness of the LSO strings almost as impressive as the crashingly captured climaxes, growling, thunderous and metallic. Every sound is accommodated in a grand acoustic.
