The Swiss composer Émile Jaques-Dalcroze (18651950) is best remembered for his development of Eurhythmics, which teaches the appreciation of music through movement. But Jaques-Dalcroze, who studied with Delibes and Fauré in Paris and with Bruckner and Fuchs in Vienna, was a considerable composer in his own right, with operas, cantatas and orchestral works among his substantial output. History of Iranian Piano Music. When we consider urban Iranian music of the 20th century, the piano is unquestionably one of the most culturally influential actors and symbols. The piano first appeared in Iran as a gift from Napoleon III, to the court of King Fath’Ali Shah (Qajar dynasty, 1797–1834). It was then progressively incorporated by the master court musicians of Nassereddin Shah (Qajar, 1848–1896); the process took a mere 50 years. Sheherazade: At certain moments in this collection, the music reaches the threshold of atonality, that is, writing which takes us out of the Iranian space of the music.

'The Twelve' is a soundtrack, but it also is an album very much in its own right. The pieces invoke feelings of meditation and anticipation that convey a wonderful sense of storytelling, and hearing about Albanese's inspiration for these only strengthens their narrative. Take 'The Stars We Follow', a piece as gentle and contemplative as it is powerful. The track was inspired by Japanese master Aoki Hiroyuki and the special practice he developed in order to connect to nature. The wonderfully comforting piece 'North Variation' was inspired by Master Lyudmila Khomovna, one of the last people of Uilta.

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Be More Chill is now available for digital purchase. A physical CD and vinyl release from Ghostlight Records will follow (details to come). The musical, featuring a score by Joe Iconis and a book by Joe Tracz, already has a popular album from its original 2015 run at New Jersey's Two River Theater. Many members of that company, including Stephanie Hsu, George Salazar, and Gerard Canonico, reprise their performances at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre. A karaoke album was also released earlier this year.

Borge Fredriksson was an underexposed tenor saxophonist who was active in Sweden in the '50s and '60s. Although his complex, abstract style of post-bop didn't bring him much commercial success during his lifetime, Fredriksson's music continued to be discovered by Scandinavian jazz players long after his death. Fredriksson recorded only one album as a leader, 1966's Intervall, and in the fall of 1968, he committed suicide at the age of 31. After Fredriksson's death, sheet music of his compositions went to pianist Bobo Stenson, who had been working with Fredriksson since 1963 and was in the rhythm section of Fredriksson's last group, along with bassist Palle Danielsson and drummer Fredrik Noren.

With the album “Waltzin” we celebrate our 10th anniversary and would like to give you an in- sight into our colorful repertoire. We start with the trio by Martinů, which is one of the standard works in the combination of flute, cello and piano. Haydn’s F Major trio is very exciting in its form, as it consists of only two movements and remains gallant until the end rather than ending with a virtuoso finale. A youth work of the only 18-year-old Debussy follows: We find the sound of the flute very charming with this piano work – it rivals the violin provided for in the original. Only in very few places did Marlies have to make small arrangements of the violin part.
