In Virus Times is an acoustic instrumental piece by Lee Ranaldo. Composed during the pandemic, In Virus Times is released as a 1-sided LP with an etching on Side B. The cover is a beautiful photo by Lee’s friend, the great Brazilian photographer Anna Paula Bogaciovas. Originally released as one track as part of a collaboration with Lucien Jean for Le Presses du Reel, the music was featured on a mini CD that accompanied a book that featured 2 short stories. In Virus Times, released by Mute, sees the track transformed into 4 pieces.

The Guarneri Trio Prague, belongs to the most renowned piano trios in the world of classical music. Founded by Ivan Klanský, Čeněk Pavlík and Marek Jerie, the Trio drew with its artistically spectacluar performances the attention of the international press early in its carreer. The Trio has been playing since 1986 in in the same line-up.

This piano suite was commissioned by The Manege exhibition center, Saint Petersburg, for the project Quietude and Joy. Music being played in exhibition halls is not a novelty. If you google for exhibition background music you will find collections of music ‘suitable’ for all sorts of exhibitions. This is similar to soundtrack libraries offering material for all sorts of movies. But in this case the idea was to create original music that will become an integral part of that particular exhibition while being a composition that could be performed live and released as an album.
