Soulstorm is a remarkable joint venture between gifted saxophonist Ivo Perelman, and two of the most distinguished string players around, cellist Daniel Levin and double bassist Torbjorn Zetterberg. Taking its title from a book by Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector, Soulstorm confirms the universality of jazz as a language for all nations in the global age. This is a transnational trio in every aspect of the music heard in this double album – the musicians converse fluently with one another, but each with his own accent and dialect.

Graduate of Northwestern University. Horn soloist Eric Ruske has established himself as an artist of international acclaim. Named Associate Principal horn of The Cleveland Orchestra at the age of 20, his impressive solo career began when he won the 1986 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, First Prize in the 1987 American Horn Competition, and in 1988, the highest prize in the Concours International d’Interprétation Musicale in Reims, France…

There are collectors…and then there are doo wop collectors, which is why we have dedicated our first Cameo Parkway compilation to the fantastic vocal groups who recorded for the label. All of these (except the Rays track and the two Roommates tracks, which we HAD to include) are from the original tapes, and only one track (the Lydells There Goes the Boy , which again we felt was a must) has ever been out on CD at retail before….

The Cascades had in 1963 a major hit on both sides of the Atlantic with their fine melodic pop song "Rhythm of the Rain". The single was released on the Valiant label, which also released three more fine singles with the group during 1962-63.

This is one of Lee Morgan's best records. The title track bounces along and is superbly memorable. It features Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter and Herbie Hancock, three musicians who were working with Miles Davis at the time. "The Procrastinator" was recorded at the same time as Miles Davis' record "Nefertiti". Whilst I love Miles Davis' records of that time I feel that this is a more enjoyable album than "Nefertiti". Try it, I am sure that you will not regret it!
