Leslie De'Ath has taken up the banner for the music of Cyril Scott, which many feel is long overdue for unfurling again, with a series on Dutton of his piano music. It is easy to hear in the pieces on this first volume why Scott was called "The English Debussy." The extremely colorful, translucent harmonies he uses make his music entrancing, sometimes mystical.

Arthur-Vincent Lourié, born Naum Izrailevich Luria (Russian: Наум Израилевич Лурья), later changed his name to Artur Sergeyevich Luriye (Russian: Артур Сергеевич Лурье, 14 May 1892 in Saint Petersburg - 12 October 1966 in Princeton, New Jersey) was a significant Russian composer. Lourié played an important role in the earliest stages of the organization of Soviet music after the 1917 Revolution but later went into exile. His music reflects his close connections with contemporary writers and artists, and also his close relationship with Igor Stravinsky.

Chicago based musician Markus Johansson has put together a band called Sylencer. They will be releasing their first album entitled A Lethal Dose of Truth on September 4, 2012. The album features guest appearances by many big names in metal including Jordan Rudess, Rob Caggiano, Brendon Small, Gene Hoglan and many others. Along with founding members Markus Johansson and Johnny Rox, Kevin Tally is also a permanent member of the band.

This 57-track double-CD set seems like a no-brainer – get almost all of Ronnie Hawkins' rock & roll recordings in one place. The packaging here is good, thoughtful, and legitimate, but could also be a little misleading to those who are buying this expecting to hear a lot of early work by the musicians who later became the Band – Levon Helm was aboard on drums from the Hawks' first official recordings, but the remainder didn't begin arriving on the scene until almost two years later; they're only on hand more than one or two at a time for less than half of what's here.

Their name, Sound Storm, fits their musical style. Immortalia, their second release, is an epic tempest of symphonic power metal. After all, they are from Italy, the home of bombastic film score heavy metal. Nothing can be done halfway or halfhearted in this genre.
