Although many associate hard rock from Los Angeles in the early '80s as all glossed up and pop-based (Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Quiet Riot, etc.), there were a select few true metal bands to emerge from the same locale, such as Armored Saint.

Enrique de Melchor is another of the greatest flamenco guitarists of recent times. He began learning the guitar playing of his own father and began to work very young in the 'flamenco tablaos'. From his father he learned the orthodoxy in touch and the roots of flamenco, which served him in his long career as a guitarist to accompany singing, knowing the secrets of all flamenco styles. However Enrique has learned to live with the new styles and influences of the guitar, that he has customized with his own expression and has deployed its wealth of shades, especially in his role as soloist. He accompanied for two years to Paco de Lucia in international tours, contributed to over 300 recordings with other artists and performed as a soloist at major theaters in the world. Possibly this CD is the best of the albums he performed, recorded in full maturity of the artist. Collaborate with him, Paco de Lucia, in the fandango and other flamenco guitarists.

Album released in Holland as a compilation of 20 songs ballroom dance performed by the orchestra of the German musician, conductor and arranger Heinz Kretzschmar. In 1947 Heinz founded his big band, with whom he worked until 1957 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, preferably dedicated to jazz music. Later he worked as an instrumentalist with major orchestras such as Max Greger or WDR Cologne. Accompanied renowned soloists as Stan Getz, Oscar Peterson and Benny Bailey, as arranged for musical 'My Fair Lady' and finally, since 1995, he created his 'Swingtett'. This CD contains a selection of suitable subjects for ballroom, Latin and standard modalities, with different styles as quickstep, slowfox, samba, tango and jive among others.

Digitally making its way from Italy, today we have Legion Warcry’s debut full-length release “The Way to Escape”. With a very traditional combination of old-school Heavy Metal and Power Metal elements, this release is quite entertaining to hear. On the downside, the production is a bit funky sometimes it sounds a bit hollow and lacks some flair that other Power Metal releases have these days.If you are looking for a band that might be the best next thing in Power Metal, keep an eye open for Legion Warcry. With “The Way to Escape” the band delivers at-least 5 very good songs and a few so-so ones, leaving room for improvement and to blow us away in the future.

The most remarkable thing about this box set of four of Tim Berne's reissued releases from the JMT label is that the wealth, depth, and breadth of the material here was recorded in only two years. This is astonishing, if one considers – merely by cracking the box set open (a very handsome cardboard sleeve, really) and looking at the notes – that Berne composed, arranged, and performed on these albums with no less than four different bands during the period. For starters, from 1979 there is The Five Year Plan, which featured Berne alongside the late clarinetist John Carter, wind and reedman Vinny Golia, drummer Alex Cline, and bassist Roberto Miranda.
