This tribute to Thin Lizzy features members of Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Motorhead, and Grim Reaper reworking versions of the metal classics "Jailbreak," "Boys Are Back in Town," "Cowboy Song," "Chinatown," "Killer on the Loose," and "Dancing in the Moonlight." Fanatics of the band may want this to complete their collections but everyone else should stick to the originals.

Martin Barre is perhaps best known for his guitar work with Jethro Tull. Many of his guitar riffs and musical ideas surround the rock classics which made Jethro Tull famous. Martin's work has made classics of Tull favorites, such as "Aqualung". The Meeting is his solo work, in which Martin acts as composer, lyricist, and artist. Martin's stylish electric and acoustic guitar work, combined with some flowing instrumentation, creates a rock sound that is unique. The sound is somewhat reminiscent of bands like Asia, Kansas, and Rush, with some Jethro Tull sounds thrown in.

Boston's many fans were upset that it took the band two years to follow up its monster debut. When it arrived, the sophomore effort DON'T LOOK BACK was a virtual rewrite of BOSTON. This didn't stop the masses from snapping up the album, which ultimately racked up sales in the multi-platinum range.

Tillery first came to prominence as the lead singer in San Francisco group The Loading Zone from 1968 to 1969. After that group split in 1970 she recorded her debut album for CBS Records, and worked as a studio musician through much of the 1970s, playing drums on albums by Santana, Mary Watkins, and Teresa Trull. She became a producer and staff artist at Olivia Records late in the decade, and released a second full-length on the label in 1978.

Kings of Metal MMXIV is a re-recording of Manowar's 1988 album, Kings of Metal. Lyrics are slightly changed as well as song titles.

Dmitri Yanov-Yanovsky’s (b. 1963) intricate fantasy on a 12th-century French motet, Perotin’s “Viderunt Omnes”, opens a remarkable programme of contemporary music for cellos and percussion. Formed in Basle in 2002, Celli Monighetti demonstrate an extraordinary range of techniques and timbres that run from viol-like purity to synthetic intensity. We also get Franghix Ali-Zadeh’s (b. 1947) blend of Easter and Western conventions, “Shyshtar Metamorphoses”.

The Turangalîla-Symphonie is one of Messiaen’s stand-out masterpieces from the 1940s, and is well known for its large orchestral forces and prominent parts for both the piano and the rarer electro-acoustic ondes Martenot. Although hailed as one of the great milestones in 20th century classical music, Turangalîla is an approachable work, divided into ten discreet movements that depict themes of love, using recurrent musical images, motifs and reference points.

Omicron is a Greek techno/ambient producer from the 1990’s. A catchy, instrumental melding of Industrial Dance, Techno, and big beat. Rousing vocal snippets and rock-influenced riffs punctuate funky, mid-tempo breaks. Old school synth riffs lead into upbeat 4/4 rhythms. "Acrocosm" is Savvas Ysatis’ first release as Omicron on the Instinct Records label.

Joining several discs from Signum celebrating Britten's Centenary Year in 2013 comes the three Suites for Solo Cello, performed by star UK cellist Jamie Walton. Recorded in the Britten Studio at Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, the three suites were dedicated to Mstislav Rostropovich, with the passionate third in particular inspired by Rostropovich’s rich and romantic performances of Bach's unaccompanied suites.

In all, nothing here is a landmark in the art of lieder singing, but anyone who fondly remembers Prey will find much to reminisce over.

Judas Priest was one of the most influential heavy metal bands of the '70s, spearheading the New Wave of British Heavy Metal late in the decade. Decked out in leather and chains, the band fused the gothic doom of Black Sabbath with the riffs and speed of Led Zeppelin, as well as adding a vicious two-lead guitar attack; in doing so, they set the pace for much popular heavy metal from 1975 until 1985, as well as laying the groundwork for the speed and death metal of the '80s.
