J. Blackfoot was an American soul singer, who was a member of The Soul Children in the late 1960s and 1970s, and subsequently had a moderately successful solo career. His biggest hit was "Taxi", which reached the charts in both the US and UK in 1984.

Nearly a decade on from the height of the Corrs' success, lead vocalist Andrea finally releases her debut solo album, albeit perhaps too late for anyone to really take notice – which is a shame, as the majority of Ten Feet High eschews the over-produced MOR that has dogged her group's recent output, and instead offers a collection of eclectic pop songs that are both lyrically and musically inventive. Opener "Hello Boys" sets the precedent as Andrea seductively purrs her way through a Goldfrapp-esque electro-pop stomper, complete with dirty bassline and electric guitar solo. It's a statement of intent you couldn't possibly have predicted, but it's far from the only time she strays from her comfort zone. First single "Shame on You," an antiwar protest based on Sebastian Faulks' Birdsong, is given an ethereal tinge by Nellee Hooper's understated production, while "Champagne Through a Straw" is a satirical tirade against the culture of celebrity, dressed up as calypso-style breezy summer pop.

On April 9, 1786, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach conducted a charity concert in Hamburg featuring three of his finest and most representative works: the Symphony Wq 183/1, the Magnificat (written in 1749 in the hope of succeeding his father as Cantor in Leipzig) and his stupendous 'Heilig' for double choir, of which he wrote, "It will be my swan song of this kind, and will serve to ensure that I shall not soon be forgotten after my death."

Written and conceived during a period of inner-band turmoil, Clutching at Straws would prove to be Fish's swan song, and perhaps Marillion's most unheralded masterpiece…

Of all of Frank Zappa's discography, Thing-Fish must be his most controversial, misunderstood, overlooked album. Obviously, it is not a masterpiece, but reducing it to a compilation album with a racist plot distorts the reality. First released as a three-LP set (and reissued on two CDs), this album is the "original cast recording" of a never-produced Broadway show. Working-class joes have been mutated into potato-headed, duck-mouthed creatures by a government experiment gone wrong. They put up a Broadway musical in which reality and fiction become one for two members of the audience.
