Somewhere between the mountainous landscapes of Pennsylvania and the forest combed valleys of New Jersey, Duskmourn was formed in 2012. Comprised of Walter Deyo (Guitars, Bass, and vocals) and Bill Sharpe (Guitars, Drums, Keyboards), Duskmourn’s vision has always been to create music that will transcend it’s listeners to another world…a simpler world…of ancient tales & nature bound journeys.

Filmed with Panavision cameras and lenses on 35mm film with 26 cameras, including one helicopter, AC/DC: Live at Donington is presented in high definition 1080p on this Blu-ray Disc release in its original 1.78:1 aspect ratio. For this release, Sony-BMG and Columbia Music Video have provided three listening options: 48kHz/24bit PCM stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps) and PCM 5.1 48kHz/24bit. Because of the use of so many cameras from various distances and the differing levels of lighting throughout the performance the quality of the picture does vary, often times from one shot to the next, but this has more to do with the things I've mentioned than with the encoding. For example, in certain darker shots from more distant cameras, there is a higher level of grain present than in well-lit shots from cameras closer to or actually on the stage where little to no grain can be seen at all.

Bireli Lagrene, a guitarist who first came up as a remarkable Django Reinhardt clone before getting interested in rock, switches back and forth throughout this CD. He plays some songs acoustically in a classical vein, swings a bit on a couple of standards and then finishes the set with a brief blowout on "Metal Earthquake." Most of the so-called acoustic pieces have electric keyboards and/or synthesizers provided by Koono (there is no actual bass on this set) and one gets the impression that at this point in his career Bireli Lagrene was unsure what direction to go in. Olivia Trummer is a different kind of singer. Here with Fly Now, (Contemplate Music) her starriest record to date, essentially a trio with James Farm bassist Matt Penman and Monty Alexander drummer Obed Calvaire, guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, however, augments the core sound sometimes flavoured by Trummer’s use of Rhodes electric piano. On May 23rd Avenue Of Allies release "Next Stop", the much anticipated second album by the Swedish AOR band Sonic Station. While perfect arrangements and production values of the highest order are still a trademark of the songs of guitarist, composer and producer Alexander Kronbrink and his band, the music is now focusing on the AOR side of Sonic Station. The powerful tunes have a more upbeat feeling and give more room to the guitars and with most of the musicians performing on all songs, the recordings carry the spirit of a real band performance rather than having the nature of a high profile studio project like the self-titled debut from 2012.

While Neil Diamond's The Christmas Album is designed almost exclusively for his adult contemporary constituency, the vocalist still manages to light up most of the obviousness of these standards with his trademark gritty soul and flair for inflection.

Begun in North Jersey as The Fireball Kids, Fireballet marked the American emergence of bands that would at least attempt to contend with the classical vocabulary of European counterparts like Emerson Lake and Palmer and Gentle Giant…
