The album was born from an idea by Javier Girotto, Argentine musician, leader of the Aires Tango band he strongly supported and founded eight years ago. Not as a point of arrival but a starting point, the project "Aniversario" celebrates these first eight years of the group's music and eleven years in Italy Girotto. Music, which is characterized by lyrical themes skilfully composed Girotto, in this case make use of orchestral arrangements of Paul Silvestri, already known to the world of jazz for working several times with Enrico Rava and Roberto Gatto, with who made the arrangements for the project RUGANTINO jazz.

Whoever thought of putting together the 'oldies' albums , (under the brand name of 'Collectables'), as one joint collection in a cd, honestly needs to be awarded a prize. This is one of Ray Conniff's finest contributions to the music of the 70's era. The mellow, refreshing voices of the Ray Conniff Singers & the superb clarity of sound lend a special blend of irresistable charm to this CD.

"James Last is a German big band leader with a large fan base in Europe, although he has never had a comparable following in the United States. Last's trademark is arranging pop hits in a big-band style; his series of "party albums" is equally well-known. Over the course of his career, he has sold well over 50 million albums."

Workshy is a band formed in London in 1986 by Michael McDermott, Chrysta Jones and Kevin Kehoe (who left in 1992). They are perhaps best known for their songs “Never The Same” and “You’re The Summer” as well as covers of the Bacharach/David song “I Say A Little Prayer”, “If I Ever Lose This Heaven” and Carole King’s “It’s Too Late.”

The concept of The Romantic Piano Concerto series was born at a lunch meeting between Hyperion and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra sometime in 1990. A few months later tentative plans had been made for three recordings, and the first volume, of concertos by Moszkowski and Paderewski, was recorded in June 1991. In our wildest dreams, none of us involved then could ever have imagined that the series would still be going strong twenty years later, and with fifty volumes to its credit.

New Light Through Old Windows is a significant baker's dozen of Chris Rea's early material, leading up to but not including work from his Road to Hell album. Rea's stature was always larger in the United Kingdom than in the U.S., with his only American Top 40 single coming from the newer version of "Fool (If You Think It's Over)," a re-release of the same song which failed to garner any attention the first time around. Rea's soothing voice is indeed attractive, and the songs that are included on this set are wisely chosen examples of his smooth style…

The acoustic piano, sometimes close to the works of classical composers such as Stravinsky and Wagner, is perfectly combined with a thoughtful wind and metal section, with a rare sense of beauty and perfect interplay. The string arrangements are thrown in the mix to form an even tighter body of work. Rebecca and Caption for the City Night Life are set on the progressive jazz/rock side of the band, while doing it with orchestral instruments, which adds loads of originality to the result.
