Van Allen Clinton McCoy (January 6, 1940 – July 6, 1979) was an American musician, record producer, arranger, songwriter, singer and orchestra conductor. He is known best for his 1975 internationally successful song "The Hustle". He has approximately 700 song copyrights to his credit, and is also noted for producing songs for such recording artists as Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Stylistics, Aretha Franklin, Brenda & the Tabulations, David Ruffin, Peaches & Herb, Lesley Gore and Stacy Lattisaw.

Metal legend U.D.O. will release their new album "We Are One" on July 17th, which was written in collaboration with the official Concert Band of the German Armed Forces (Musikkorps der Bundeswehr) under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Christoph Scheibling and is a wholly unique worldwide musical project. The album contains 15 new songs that have been developed and arranged by U.D.O. together with Christoph Scheibling. The two former Accept musicians Stefan Kaufmann and Peter Baltes have been part of the songwriting too - as well as the German Armed Forces´ composers Guido Rennert and Alexander Reuber.

Magenta follow up 2017's much-praised "We Are Legend" with a brand new studio album "Masters of Illusion". The 60 minute album consists of six songs, including the 17 minute title track. The album’s theme is based around the lives of six famous horror actors of the 1950s and 1960s. The six songs on "Masters of Illusion" produce a combined multi-chromatic palette of colors that are as varied as the rainbow. From granite grey funk to sparkling pink pop, from the black depths of regret to the triumphant feel of, well, magenta, it is all to be found here. Melody and harmony create vivid colors on this album. Exactly why the Reed brothers selected the horror actor theme to be their next choice of concept becomes, quite frankly, immaterial. More to the point is that the concept has led Magenta to deliver a collection of Prog songs that will galvanize any melodic Prog fan-base.

As with all of Cables' albums, Icons & Influences is a fluid, urbane album full of engaging modern jazz.

Gil Evans celebrated his 75th birthday shortly before this session was issued in Japan. He was not looking back, judging from the progressive, animated quality of these numbers. They included some extensive, rollicking numbers, songs with multiple movements, and energized solos from John Clark on French horn, trumpeter Lew Soloff, bass trombonist Dave Tucker, and bassist Mark Egan. Special guest Johnny Coles chimed in on "Half Man, Half Cookie." Some critics rapped Evans' '80s orchestras for their almost chaotic sound and loose feel. But Evans wanted a sprawling sensibility, and although his bands often seemed disorganized, they always maintained discipline in the midst of what others thought sounded like musical anarchy.
