Two studio albums in three years may not seem to be a breakneck pace for anybody else, but for Lindsey Buckingham it is no less than pure acceleration. Indeed if we include the live album that came out in 2007 between the two, it's like three outings in as many years – warp speed for an artist like Buckingham who has been known to go more than a decade between his own offerings outside of Fleetwood Mac…

If you like your contemporary jazz crooners smooth and sweet, then likely John Pizzarelli is your main man above today's many post-Sinatra posers. This recording is as solid an effort as he has offered musically, or in terms of his stance and intelligent selection of material. While his guitar playing is subsumed, it is nonetheless precious, and when occasionally paired alongside his father, Bucky Pizzarelli, priceless. The surrounding cast is outstanding, with bassists Milt Hinton, Ron Carter, or Michael Moore; drummers Butch Miles or Connie Kay; and especially the great pianist Dave McKenna – along with cameos from trumpeter Clark Terry and violinist Johnny Frigo.

It was co-produced by guitarist Tony Iommi and Mike Butcher.

Udi Shlomo is a drummer, composer and arranger born in Kibbutz Nahshon (Israel), with roots from Iraq, Poland, and old Czechoslovakia, who since 2010 has lived in Trondheim.
This diverse background is expressed in Shlomo's debut album entitled Diaspora House. The album combines Shlomo's original compositions, which are inspired by memories, images, stories and nature from his early life in the kibbutz, together with new arrangements of traditional Hebrew folk music, and colored by the experience of life in Norway - away from the roots, but within the diaspora. This mix of cultures creates what is today called "World Jazz". Just like himself.

'The Hit' by WRD Trio is the debut album by the organ trio of acclaimed musicians Robert Walter (The Greyboy Allstars, Robert Walter's 20th Congress), Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), and Adam Deitch (Lettuce/Break Science). Spurred out of a small handful of one-off performances where the trio found themselves at the same festival, both artist chemistry and popular demand brought the group to the Color Red Studios with sessions in summer 2018 and winter 2019. 'The Hit' is the result of refined musical synchronicity and reveling in vintage straight-to-tape recording techniques. The trio embraced the immediacy of metamorphosing short demo songs into consummate arrangements with no headphones, minimal overdubs, and live recording. With no time to question anything, 'The Hit' authentically captures the interactions between the first-rate musicians and the raw, natural sounds of the instruments in the room together.

With a band patched together from the remnants of Mott the Hoople, British Lions is all swagger and little substance; music performed as though it's very important and vital, but with little in the way of memorable tunes or attitude. That's the late-'70s hard rock mainstream for you, and it's easy to imagine these guys slogging it out in arenas as a support act, which in fact they did for Blue Öyster Cult and UFO…

Backed by a swinging band that includes veteran guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, DeSare's warm vocals are complemented by his piano chops in the brisk workout of "Just in Time."…

Billed as the 50th album by this 50-year-old singer, Nancy Wilson's "Forbidden Lover" is an attempt to contemporize her sound, with arrangements that recall Luther Vandross and the Earth, Wind & Fire horn section. The title track, a duet with Carl Anderson, seems intended to heat up the R&B charts and, if it did, there would be other tracks to follow. It's reasonable that Columbia Records, which signed Wilson up after her long tenure at Capitol, should try to get a return on its investment. But Wilson the jazz-R&B song stylist gets lost on most of these recordings. "I Was Telling Him About You" is a ballad that lets her get across her personality, and the string-filled closer, Leon Russell's "A Song About You," really gives her room to shine and probably will turn out to be the only keeper on this collection. Pop music performers almost always want to sound contemporary, but this is one singer who would be better off acting her age.

Recorded in 1993 during the Free Music Workshop in Berlin, this date features Cecil Taylor playing in a septet setting with a group of musicians who both point back toward some of the Cecil Taylor units of old and look ahead at the possibilities for a future ensemble employing numerous instruments, not only for color and variance, but also as force creators in Taylor's wave field. Old Taylor stalwarts like bassist Sirone and drummer Rashid Baker are tossed into a mix that includes tenor titan Charles Gayle, cellist Tristan Honsiger, and soprano saxophonist Harri Sjöström, as well as French trumpet master Longineu Parsons.
