Freddie Hubbard is featured during a 1991 Warsaw concert just a few weeks after the death of Miles Davis, though by this point in his career the trumpeter's chops are not consistently up to par. Joined by pianist Ronnie Mathews, tenor saxophonist Don Braden, bassist Jeff Chambers, and drummer Ralph Penland, the ambitious program kicks off with a furious-paced take of Cedar Walton's "Bolivia," though the high notes give the leader some trouble and he quickly abandons them. Likewise, Hubbard's solo introduction to "God Bless the Child" is erratic and the rather pedestrian attempt at Miles Davis' landmark composition "All Blues" is frankly dull, as it doesn't take enough chances. The final track, "Dear John," is Hubbard's reworking of the chord changes to John Coltrane's "Giant Steps," but his intonation problems make it difficult to enjoy.

His eighth studio album, Scarecrow was originally released in 1985 and is one of Mellencamp’s most beloved albums. The album contains three chart topping hits—“R.O.C.K In The U.S.A. 2 CD Set Contains Previously Unreleased Performances. JESUS ON THE MAINLINE is drawn from two 1971 concerts; April 14th, 1971 in Tacoma, Washington, and November 5th, 1971 at the Gaslight In New York, which would prove to be the final recording of the Delta Blues legend. The bottleneck guitarist was 67 years old when these tracks were recorded and his passion and conviction seem to have strengthened with the years. At this point in McDowell's career he had shifted to playing electric slide guitar. Accompanying McDowell's gruff voice, the guitar often seems to finish the singer's sentences for him; it's like listening to an old married couple.

Robert Goldsand (Vienna, 1911–Connecticut, 1991) entered the Vienna Academy of Music at around age six and made his recital debut four years later at ten. Later, Goldsand studied with Moriz Rosenthal and Emil Sauer. He launched his US career in 1927 and played regularly in New York from the 1940s onward. Among pianists active in the twentieth century, few could boast of a repertoire as varied and extensive as Goldsand’s. He died at age eighty in 1991.
