    Au XVIIe siècle, Blanche De Péronne, une gamine de quatorze ans, est témoin du meurtre sauvage de ses parents par le capitaine KKK, responsable des "Escadrons de la mort", milice privée du cardinal Mazarin. Quinze ans plus tard, elle se retrouve à la tête d'une bande de malfrats et souhaite venger la mort de ses parents. Se présente alors à elle celui qu'on nomme "Etranger", un mercenaire solitaire, qui lui propose de braquer un convoi spécial destiné au cruel cardinal. L'embuscade réussit. La joyeuse troupe découvre alors deux biens précieux très convoités par son Eminence : une substance farineuse, appelée "poudre du Diable", aux effets dévastateurs, et une lettre codée que seul Bonange, un espion à la solde de Mazarin, est capable de décrypter. Une fois déchaînée sa colère, le cardinal va tout mettre en oeuvre pour récupérer la fameuse missive ainsi que la poudre rougeâtre.
