Grammy award winning recording artist Patty Griffin's eponymous new release marks the 11th studio album of her career and her first release since 2015's Servant of Love.

This first part of an ongoing complete set of Leclair's violin concertos includes Nos. 2 and 6 of the two concert series, Op. VII and X. The Concerto in G minor No. 6, Op. X is often considered to be the composer's finest work. In this dazzling display of talent, Schayegh plays a late 17th century Andrea Guarneri at the head of La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, which includes Eva Saladin, Konzertmeisterin, and Sonoko Asabuki, third principal violin (Leclair's concertos often featuring three solo violins).

Created in Leipzig in March 1731 and then revised for the Holy Week of 1744, on a text by Christian Friedrich Henrici, aka Picander, the St Mark Passion was composed by Bach using existing works.

The first joint project of the internationally renowned Leipzig vocal ensembles amarcord and Calmus: The centerpiece is the splendid sonority of the ­twelve-part Mass by Antoine Brumel, which is said to have been performed on the occasion of the famous disputation between Martin Luther and theologian Johannes Eck 1519 in St. ­Thomas’s Church. A highlight of musical life in Leipzig and, at the same time, a milestone in polyphonic vocal music. The mass is complemented by compositions by Josquin des Préz, Johann Walter, Thomas Stoltzer and others.

Given Reynaldo Hahn’s high profile with the patrons of Paris’s pre-war artist salons, it’s not surprising that his original works for piano include a good number of short character pieces that exude charm.

After conquering the Midwest, Dead & Company headed below the Mason-Dixon line to begin the final leg of the Fall ’17 tour, the first stop being the lovely and diverse city of Charlotte, NC. Southern Dead Heads have sometimes lamented that their region was not as frequent a touring destination as other parts of the country for the Grateful Dead and its various spinoffs and successors, but Dead and Co. seem to be looking to change that: this was the third visit in their short history to North Carolina, and second to Charlotte, and the fans’ patience and loyalty was richly rewarded with this sweet gem of a show.
