Each of the works on this disc embodies Swedish composer David Lampel’s paradoxical idea that ‘music can be heard before it starts, and continues after the last note’. All are performed by the musicians for whom they were composed or to whom they were dedicated. Lampel’s musical imagination transforms his Piano Sonata into a game of hide-and-seek. His String Sextet and Prelude and Chaconne pay homage to Schoenberg and Bach respectively, while the String Quartet and Violin Sonata reinvent Classical and Romantic style within an accessible modern idiom.

Houston, Texas band Oz Knozz was originally formed all the way back in 1969 by current members Duane and Bill Massey, plus Jack Alford. Their first album "Ruff Mix" came out in the mid 1970s, and plenty of touring followed. It wasn't until 2008 that the follow-up emerged, and that makes new album "True Believer" only the 3rd album in 42 years.

Heaven Rain was founded in the summer of 2006 in Bosnia. The idea was to create original music in the progressive metal genre, combined with influences from the Finnish school of power metal.Brand new Heaven Rain album SECOND SUN contains ten new songs, and a bonus cover song ,,Vejte Snegovi", an 80's pop classic by famous Yugoslavian band Zana. Some of the band's chief influences are bands such as Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish and Ayreon.

Edward MacDowell is best known for his Piano Concertos and his short solo piece "To a Wild Rose". This collection provides an insight into some of his nearly-forgotten solo piano music, resurrected here by the late James Barbagallo, whose obvious enthusiasm for the music infuses each track with newfound vitality and energy.

Joni Mitchell has had one of the most peculiar career arcs in the history of popular music. Since her first stint as a superstar in the making – from about 1967 to 1975 – her overall creative catalog of complex, challenging, ever-changing music has gone more or less unnoticed by the masses. Of course, this has been done by mutual agreement between artist and audience. Mitchell has no desire to pander (when she's slipped and tried, the results have been very mixed – 1985's poorly received Dog Eat Dog, for example) and the vast majority of the pop music buying public don't want to think when they listen to favored acts.

Georgie Fame's swinging, surprisingly credible blend of jazz and American R&B earned him a substantial following in his native U.K., where he scored three number one singles during the '60s. Fame played piano and organ in addition to singing, and was influenced by the likes of Mose Allison, Booker T. & the MG's, and Louis Jordan. Early in his career, he also peppered his repertoire with Jamaican ska and bluebeat tunes, helping to popularize that genre in England; during his later years, he was one of the few jazz singers of any stripe to take an interest in the vanishing art of vocalese, and earned much general respect from jazz critics on both sides of the Atlantic.
