This Peter Green-led edition of the Mac isn't just an important transition between their initial blues-based incarnation and the mega-pop band they became, it's also their most vital, exciting version. The addition of Danny Kirwan as second guitarist and songwriter foreshadows not only the soft-rock terrain of "Bare Trees" and "Kiln House" with Christine Perfect-McVie, but also predicts Rumours. That only pertains to roughly half of the also excellent material here, though; the rest is quintessential Green.

Album by the recently deceased Puerto Rican singer and producer, Mariano Civico. His solo career has been cut prematurely, from 1994 to date. Despite his short career, he became one of the exponents of the best-known salsa in Latin America, particularly in Colombia, where he lived in Cali. I'De costa a costa', his first and major album, includes some of his best known hits as 'Esa mujer', 'Tu precio', 'Solo deseos', 'Paisaje' o 'Te voy a hacer feliz'.

Compilation album produced and released in Spain by the great American director Ray Conniff in offering a repertoire of songs selected from the greatest Latin hits of the 60s and 70s. Conniff developed a completely new and refreshing sound in the field of popular and light music, particularly with his choir and always took special care in choosing great instrumentalists musicians to intervene in his recordings. The album includes his own creation 'Latin Lady' in a repertoire bringing popular songs of those years.

Kathleen Emperatriz "Kat" DeLuna (born November 17, 1987) is a Dominican American pop singer and dancer. DeLuna has a soprano vocal range. Her debut single, "Whine Up", reached the top ten in Belgium and France, peaked inside the top forty of the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. Her debut album, 9 Lives, was released in 2007. It peaked at number fifty-eight on the USBillboard 200 and charted within the top twenty of Belgium and Poland. In 2008, DeLuna began work on her second studio album, Inside Out. It was released in Belgium in 2010, peaking at number sixteen.

A little gem. I was looking for Lessel's concerto for about 2 years. Finally I got it this year. I heard it first on the radio (thanks Margaret Throsby, ABC Classic FM) and loved it. Franciszek Lessel, pupil of Haydn, is just magnificent. On this CD you get to hear his Piano Concerto in C major Op.14. Wonderful Adagio and lively Rondo Allegretto, very much in the Classical style. Also, Dobrzynski (friend of Chopin, they studied together) delivers a most beautiful Concerto. Piano Concerto- early Romantic Style, beautiful slow movement Andante espressivo. I lament the fact that these concerti are so obscure and forgotten. What a shame! Give yourself a break and try something new, you may be pleasantly surprised!

D’Indy was a contemporary of Debussy and Ravel, and a pupil of César Franck. Fauré described him as ‘The Samson of Music’ for his multifarious and generous-minded work as a composer, conductor, educator and propagandist who greatly strengthened French musical culture. Today the music of d’Indy is sadly neglected, which is why Chandos and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra have decided to embark upon a series devoted to his orchestral works with conductor Rumon Gamba. With a style essentially eclectic and strongly influenced above all by Beethoven and Wagner, d’Indy particularly excelled in orchestral composition. He drew particular inspiration from his native region in southern France, and formed a body of post-romantic works richly orchestrated, often inflected with folk-like melodies and employing Franck’s well-known ‘cyclic method’.

With 'Regayov', Flinsch now gets to play out his unique understanding for minimalistic grooves in full playing time. The result is an outstanding hypnotic masterpiece that manages to thrill its listeners with incredible atmospheric density. The many melancholic compositions with extremly creative names, mix with dark noise monsters, igniting subtile grooves between old-school ('Deretla') and high-tech ('Sloptsea'). Songs with a wonderful romantic electronic feel to them enchant everyone who is listening while provoking a permanent state of trance. In their emotional deepness, Flinschs music even manages to remind of the fragile melancholy that one usually only finds in the releases of Björk.

Germany's CPO label has presented the efforts of performers who have doggedly unearthed unknown music of various periods, especially the eighteenth century. With the voluminous corpus of concertos by Telemann, many of which exist only in manuscript, they enter a field with a lot of still-uncharted territory. This set of wind concertos is one of the label's most useful releases despite a few quirks. The music offers a good quick overview of the various influences at work in Telemann's concertos, which began with the seventeenth century concerto structure of a sequence of short elements resembling rhetorical figures but overlaid them with Italian and (especially) French influences. There are hints of Handel, Couperin, Corelli, Bach, and other composers, but there is a lightness and enthusiasm throughout that is entirely Telemann's own. (James Manheim)
