The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the upcoming official soundtrack to the 2014 American science-fiction adventure film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. The movie is an adaptation of the 2010 novel by Suzanne Collins and is the third installment in the The Hunger Games film series.

On this recording, straight ahead and swinging jazz vocalist Dina Blade sets a joyful mood backed by a rhythm section of piano, bass, drums, congas. With the addition of trumpet and tenor sax, the romp through a plethora of gems from the Great American Songbook is playfully creative. Dina Blade's voice is in terrific form, especially on standards like "Just in Time" which finds her in her element. The perfectly swinging musical sense that is her trademark intensifies as she becomes uplifted and really "digs in" after hearing the astoundingly virtuosic bass solo of Larry Holloway…

Whatever you do, don't refer to multi-instrumentalist Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown as a bluesman, although his imprimatur on the development of Texas blues is enormous. You're liable to get him riled. If you must pigeonhole the legend, just call him an eclectic Texas musical master whose interests encompass virtually every roots genre imaginable.
Brown learned the value of versatility while growing up in Orange, TX. His dad was a locally popular musician who specialized in country, Cajun, and bluegrass but not blues. Later, Gate was entranced by the big bands of Count Basie, Lionel Hampton, and Duke Ellington (a torrid arrangement of "Take the 'A' Train" remains a centerpiece of Brown's repertoire).

Still the definitive Crystals retrospective nearly a decade after its release, ABKCO's The Best of the Crystals gathers their most beloved singles, including "Uptown," "He's a Rebel," "Da Doo Ron," and "Then He Kissed Me"; the infamous withdrawn single "He Hit Me (It Felt Like a Kiss)"; and relatively obscure songs such as "What a Nice Way to Turn 17," "Look in My Eyes," and "I Wonder."
