20/20 got its name from its distinction of being The Beach Boys' 20th official album release. In the wake of Brian Wilson's partial absence, younger siblings Dennis Wilson and Carl Wilson began to take the helm both inside and outside the studio's control room. After all the admirable work by his band-mates, it was ironic that Brian Wilson would steal the show with three older compositions. "Cabinessence" and "Our Prayer" derived from the mythical Smile sessions, plus "Time to Get Alone," begun during the Wild Honey sessions.

Although she never left it behind, it's been easy to overlook that Madonna began her career as a disco diva in an era that didn't have disco divas. It was an era where disco was anathema to the mainstream pop, and she had a huge role in popularizing dance music as a popular music again, crashing through the door Michael Jackson opened with Thriller…

Whether he gets (enough) credit or not from jazz heads, guitarist George Benson certainly created the template for smooth jazz , with 1975's Good King Bad a perfect example of the style in its infant stages. Benson combines his classy, Wes Montgomery-inspired guitar style with funky material ("Hold On I'm Coming"), yearning balladry ("Cast Your Fate To the Wind"), plush arrangements, and, on one song, buttery vocals for a classic slice of easygoing jazz.

Oxygene 7–13 is a 1997 album of instrumental electronic music byJean Michel Jarre, his ninth overall studio album. It is the sequel to his 1976 album Oxygene, and is dedicated to Jarre's former mentor, experimental musician Pierre Schaeffer. While the album was recorded using many of the same synthesizers as Oxygene, and the titling suggests a continuation from where the first album ends, many tracks have a more uptempo, trance-like character. The album is not as widely acclaimed as the original Oxygene, but has been quite successful nonetheless, especially among fans.
