One of the great fado singers working today, Cristina Branco returns with Ulisses, a lush-sounding album that now more than ever separates her from fado convention. Rather than the typical guitar trio backing, Branco adds piano throughout to a guitar quartet that is, as always, led by Portuguese guitar player Custódio Castelo. Between Castelo's pyrotechnics and the piano adding a richer harmonic element, the elegant music sounds more appropriate for classical music recital halls than the fado clubs. Branco's voice smolders with nuance throughout, soaring but never overpowering the backing.

American composer Carlos Simon presents a multi-genre work, Requiem for the Enslaved. This work is a musical tribute to commemorate the stories of 272 enslaved men, women and children sold in 1838 by Georgetown University. Described as a "rap opera," Carlos infuses his original compositions with African American spirituals and familiar Catholic liturgical melodies.

Dream Dancing documents the trio’s effortless rapport as they explore well-loved standards and a moving Bertoncini original, “For Chet” (an homage to the guitarist’s one-time employer, Chet Baker).
It was Sturm who facilitated the first meeting of Stylianou and Bertoncini, in roughly 2008. “When I first met Gene we played ‘My One and Only Love,’ it was the very next thing after ‘hello,’” the singer recalls. “That moment changed my life. Heart In Hand, the first collaboration by American multi-instrumentalists Kenny Wollesen and Ned Ferm on Stunt Records, is a deep and soulful journey into genre-bending musical territory through folk-inspired compositions and inventive interludes. Wollesen is heard on drums, percussion, hand-claps, piano and electric vibraphone, while Ferm appears on tenor saxophone, clarintet, flute, violin, percussion, background vocals and Fender Rhodes - in layered arrangements exploring extreme dynamic peaks and valleys as well as nuanced soundscapes and sub-genres that pay tribute to folk and Americana music, paired with a pleasant psychedelic curiosity.

Perfume Genius (Mike Hadreas) with his new album, Ugly Season, and announced via a clip by artist and director Jacolby Satterwhite. The clip is taken from a short film featuring Hadreas and music from Ugly Season that is a visual companion to the project. Satterwhite is known for his immersive multidisciplinary technique that fuses live video, 3-D animation, drawing and print-making. His work has appeared at MoMa, The Smithsonian, The Whitney and the Studio Museum of Harlem.

After having his mainstream breakthrough with the Wes Craven slasher film Scream in 1996, American composer Marco Beltrami became closely associated with his stirring, percussive orchestral scores for horror, action, and science fiction movies, including further collaborations with Craven. His first of multiple Academy Award nominations came with the 2007 remake of the western 3:10 to Yuma. Fifteen years after the first installment, 2011's Scream 4 was his fourth straight score for the series. In 2015, Beltrami collaborated with Philip Glass on music for the Marvel Comics film Fantastic Four, and in 2018, his score was one of the few things that could be heard in the hit horror movie A Quiet Place.
