Elisabeth Leonskaja (born 23 November 1945) (In Russian: Елизавета Ильинична Леонская) is a Soviet and Austrian pianist. She was born to a family of Jewish and Polish extraction living in Tbilisi, then the capital of the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic.

The three works by the Amsterdam-born Henriëtte Bosmans (1895–1952) in this album all date from her early to mid-twenties. The Violin Sonata and Piano Trio are substantial pieces, both animated by the passion of youth – and, given their quality, it is astounding that they should be receiving their first recordings here.

The Russian conductor Vladimir Jurowski, beloved of British audiences for his long stints with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Glyndebourne, became music director of the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich, in 2021. Suppressing any envy, we can enjoy the fruits of their collaboration in a new own-label live recording: Beethoven’s Symphony No 2 in D is paired with Brett Dean’s Testament: Music for Orchestra (2008).
