Yoichi Murata has achieved the difficult task of reinventing the most popular jazz standards and making them his own. The writing is significant and broad, and he has changed the way we think about these songs. The playing also matches the creativity of the writing. A long history of the great Gil Evans looms large over these pieces and brings back memories to all who know and love that musical heritage.

For this EWE release, Yoichi created original compositions which bring everything we’ve come to expect and love from the great jazz orchestras. It is a collage of colors, moods, and bridges the vast continents of the musical world. From playing to writing, there is no let-up start to finish. Brilliance and virtuosity is the rule and he sets a high standard.

Live at Donington 1990 is a live album by English hard rock band Whitesnake. It was recorded at Castle Donington on 18 August 1990 during the Monsters of Rock festival, which the band headlined.

Maverick Sabre releases his much-anticipated fourth LP Don’t Forget To Look Up via FAMM. The follow up to 2019’s When I Wake Up, the introspective 12-track release was conceived in lockdown and sees Maverick examine and unpick love in its various iterations. Traversing recollections of previous relationships, to examining the societal pressures placed on couples, Don’t Forget To Look Up is both intimate and inquisitive at the same time.

The composer, virtuoso pianist, organist, critic and essayist Camille Saint-Saëns lived long enough to become a unique witness to an era of revolutionary changes in music. Recognised as a child prodigy by Gioacchino Rossini and Hector Berlioz, in his late years the author of Danse macabre had a chance to become acquainted with the early works of New Music. Atonality did not fire him with enthusiasm, which comes as no surprise, considering the fact that even Claude Debussy’s musical poetics proved quite alien to his tastes (Debussy felt the same about Saint-Saëns’ style).

A meditative music collaboration between composers Richard Reed Parry (of Arcade Fire) and Susie Ibarra, “Field II: Slow Drift” is a gently enveloping, avant-garde sound exploration. Parry and Ibarra collaborated remotely on the composition, which will appear on their forthcoming album Heart and Breath: Rhythm and Tone Fields (out 15 July). Remarkably, they used the rhythm of their heartbeats and breathing patterns to create each track on the album. “This doesn’t sound like any record I’ve ever heard,” Parry says in a statement. “There’s a sensibility to it that was enabled by remote recording, and the fact that we made our breath into music and then into samples and then we built on that to make an album.”

As part of the ongoing partnership between Abbey Road Studios and BBC Music Introducing, we are delighted to be returning to Tobacco Dock with the Abbey Road Production Hub at this year's BBC Music Introducing Live. Returning with our world-class recording and mastering engineers, we will also be leading a discussion on the art of songwriting, sharing invaluable advice and insights for the next generation of musical talent. The panel will be moderated by Abbey Road's Jack Lintorn who will be joined by Maverick Sabre, Grime artist Novelist and British songwriter Rachel Furner. The audience will also have the opportunity to ask the panel their questions.

Steve Lacy has announced, his new album Gemini Rights, will drop on July 15, 2022 on RCA Records. Along with the news, the multi-artist has shared new single “Bad Habit”. Gemini Rights was written, produced, and mostly played by Lacy.

The Egedacher organ of the Zwettl monastery is one of the most valuable testimonies of 18th-century southern German-Austrian organ building. It was built by Johann Ignaz Egedacher in the years 1728-1731. This recording contains music from the 17th and 18th centuries from Italian and German-speaking countries. At the same time, the connections between the Italian and German-speaking countries represent a very personal parallel to the life of the organist Marco Paolacci.

Marta Sierra is an exciting young jazz musician from Barcelona who is beginning to make her mark as a fiery violinist & vocalist. She has gained much renown in the last few years as a band leader, standing out in the crowded Barcelona Jazz scene with her hot Gypsy Jazz sound. She regularly plays all over Catalonia with her band, sometimes expanding to a bigger sound with added guests. She also regularly plays in Paris, where she has had the chance to play with some of the biggest jazz manouche names in France, such as Dorado Schmit or Costel Nitescu.

A very eclectic mix pulling in influences from Dream Theater, Rush, Saga, through It Bites, and Pink Floyd. The band set about recording their debut album "Our Time On Earth" which was subsequently released through Escape Music (ESM 342) in 2020 to great acclaim by the music press and fans of both the Melodic Rock and Metal genres.

This CD finds Cole revisiting his earlier hits with new versions. The 20 selections mostly focus on his pop successes of the 1950s, although there are a few wistful looks back at his trio days. Not as essential as the original renditions of these popular recordings, the remakes nevertheless find Cole in peak form and comprise a highly enjoyable retrospective of his vocal career.
