Billy D’s life experience has given him the strength to write his brand of “Bluzy Rock” with a passion that only comes from living it. Heavily influenced by Chicago blues, Rock & Roll, and “Backbeat Roots” music of all types, his songs reflect the tough lessons of his past and show his love for Mother Blues and her first-born, Rock & Roll. Born on the south side of Chicago, Billy Desmond grew up surrounded by the Blues and early Rock & Roll— a powerful combination. He started playing professionally at the age of fourteen, primarily for teen dances and parties; and by eighteen, he was sneaking into the blues clubs of Chicago to hear such greats as Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, and James Cotton…

As he was developing his formidable career in the early era of smooth jazz, the saxman proved an invaluable sideman of Chick Corea's Elektric Band, David Benoit's touring ensemble and a studio player for projects by such artists as Keiko Matsui and Mike Garson. Yet as a solo artist, he spent his first three albums searching for an identity that ranged from pop (Round Trip) to electronic mainstream jazz (Crossroads). With Oasis, his search came to a diverse, exciting, and highly enjoyable end. Marienthal applies his stellar blowing techniquest to styles ranging from folk to gospel, but the overall attitude he conveys is sweet and soulful R&B, as in the hoppin' grooves of the funky opening tracks "Hustlin'" and "Seafood to Go."

2011 expanded the original album to include a second disc and also rearranged the entire track order. This is the third ELO compilation that presents a chronological run-through of ELO's singles/songs. The original artwork has been slightly altered as well to differentiate from the single CD release.

Sony in Germany are to issue Falco 60, a new best of/rarities collection across a number of formats, to celebrate what would have been the 60th birthday of Austrian singer-songwriter Falco, who scored a memorable transatlantic number one back in 1985 with Rock Me Amadeus.
Falco 60 is being issued as a three-CD deluxe set which includes the hits, rarities and four new remixes by contemporary Austrian artists such as Ogris Debris and Parvov Stelar.

French saxophonist Sophie Alour's Opus 3 is not only her third album as a leader, it is also her first in a trio setting. The recipient of the French Django D'or award, Alour departs from the electric intensity of her previous release, Uncaged (Nocturne, 2007), to explore her voice as an instrumentalist. The 11 originals are tone poems bearing heavy western classical influences, with occasional peppering of other styles that showcase the leader on both tenor and soprano saxophones.

Primo disco live del quartetto del sassofonista Tino Tracanna, formazione ormai attiva da molti anni e dedita a un jazz apparentemente tradizionale, ma non privo di aperture sperimentali. Ne и subito esempio “Born in the Zoo”, che Tracanna aveva registrato in precedenti occasioni, ad esempio nel 1999 in duo con Paolino Dalla Porta nell'album Nudes. Il brano, condotto dal leader al soprano, ha una struttura anomala e si basa su riff ripetuti. Forse piщ tradizionali "Imaharat" e "Monkeys" (che era giа presente nell'album del 1994 Ensalada mistica, del quintetto di Paolo Fresu, nel quale Tracanna и da sempre membro stabile), mentre "Casta Rumba" и una godibilissima ballad, nella quale Massimo Colombo e Tracanna hanno spazi per assoli di grande espressivitа, che trasmettono l'atmosfera del concerto.
