Stephen and David Dewaele have announced the release of their first studio album as Soulwax in 12 years. Arriving on March 24, From Deewee was recorded in one take at their Deewee studio in Ghent, and is based on their Transient Program For Drums and Machinery live show, which began touring in summer 2016. Speaking in a press release, Stephen and David Dewaele explain that the album saw them set out to record the songs live with the same setup, machines and musicians as went on tour. As well as the Dewaele brothers, who are also known for their party-starting DJ sets as 2ManyDJs, the album features Stefaan Van Leuven, Iggor Cavalera, Victoria Smith, Blake Davies and Laima Leyton.

Michał Jacaszek is an absolute master of melancholy: the Polish composer who's spun dramatic shades of darkness and light into gold for more than a decade now, from the trickle-down electronics of Treny and artful gloom of Glimmer to the vapor-trailed verses of their looming spiritual cousin KWIATY. KWIATY - which was inspired by An English anthology of metaphysical poetry from the 17th century - is the most vocal-driven material Jacaszek's ever written, melding his stormy melodies with a breakout performance by Hania Malarowska (of the Warsaw-based rock band Hanimal) and the robust supporting roles of Joasia Sobowiec-Jamioł and Natalia Grzebała, with lyrics adapted from poems from Virgil and Robert Herrick.

Following up their excellent debut and a season of intense touring, David Lindley and his crack band (now named El Rayo-X) recorded their second Elektra album. It turns out that they actually bettered the near perfection of the first. Opening with an excellent version of Etta James classic "Something's Got a Hold on Me," this track proves how tight the band had became. Lindley's slide guitar work is impressive as always. As an added bonus, the band's vocal harmonies are extremely tight and a welcome addition.
