"Siniestro" is the ninth album by the Pilgrims and marks the 25th year of the five original members staking out their own special corner of the surf instrumental genre. Bobby, John, Ted, Scott and Dave are extremely excited by the 15 original and new songs that they have written, arranged and recorded themselves for “Siniestro”. That’s right, no producer or engineer on this one, they have made “Siniestro” just the way they want it. Recorded by the band in the abandoned Mt. Hood Masonic Lodge in Portland, this recording captures the live feel of a large reverberating room with the band getting back to their surf roots while clicking on all cylinders…

Backed by a small band in an modest setting (a Manhattan nightclub with 140 seats, one of which was occupied by Freddie Jackson, who joins in at one point), Ashford & Simpson roll through 14 of their best known songs, whether they were written for others or themselves. Since they throw in a couple crowd-pleasing curveballs, like opening with "It's Much Deeper" (a relatively low-charting single off 1983's High-Rise), it's not quite a greatest-hits set, but it's both rich and unpredictable enough to leave any follower satisfied.

While covering Bob Dylan songs certainly isn't a novel idea, it's potentially a very interesting idea to have contemporary blues musicians perform Dylan compositions indebted to that form, since it's sometimes easy to overlook the deeply traditional roots of his music in light of the vast new territories he opened up…

"Sound of Sexy Soul" is the second album by American R&B/Soul vocal group The Delfonics, released on February 11, 1969 by Philly Groove label. The album was produced by Thom Bell. Like The Delfonics' debut album La La Means I Love You, The Sound of Sexy Soul is evenly split between new songs written by Bell and lead singer William Hart, and cover versions. The album's lead single, "Ready or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide from Love)", peaked at #35 on the pop chart at the time of original release. The Sound of Sexy Soul continues the development of the smooth, symphonic soul sound pioneered by Bell on La La Means I Love You and is regarded as a classic example of early-period Philadelphia soul.

Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul, or simply Otis Blue, released September 15, 1965 on Stax Records, is the third studio album by soul singer Otis Redding. The album mainly consists of cover songs by popular R&B and soul artists, and, bar one track, was recorded in a 24-hour period over July 9/10 1965 at the Stax Recording Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. Otis Blue was critically acclaimed upon release and became one of Redding's most successful albums; it reached #6 on the UK Albums Chart, and was his first to reach the top spot of the Billboard R&B chart. Furthermore, it produced three popular singles, all charting at least in the top 50 on both the Billboard R&B and the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
