    Bobby Orlando is a highly prolific music producer, songwriter, musician, and record label impresario. During the 80's he produced, composed and performed on hundreds of music productions that he released under a myriad of record labels, including: "O" Records, Bobcat Records, Memo Records and others. He is one of the founding fathers of Hi-NRG dance music. Orlando is a multi-instrumentalist and the cowbell percussion lines and robotic sequencers heard on "She Has A Way", his debut single, defines his trademark sound. . As a solo artist, Orlando scored hits with tracks 'She Has a Way', 'How To Pick Up Girls', and 'I'm So Hot for You'. He also produced the early hit singles for numerous artists including Divine (Native Love), Pet Shop Boys (West End Girls) and The Flirts (Passion) amongst many others.

    Christine Jensen leads the Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal in two large-scale works. First off comes a composition by Jensen herself – a five-movement work that pays tribute to great jazz artists who helped fashion her own style as both composer and improviser: John Coltrane, Lee Konitz, Wayne Shorter, Kenny Wheeler, and Jan Jarczyk (her first teacher).Then we hear a suite from Gershwin’s immortal opera Porgy and Bess in an arrangement by Gil Evans. This is the suite recorded by Miles Davis and his band, conducted by Evans, and released to great acclaim in 1959. It was one of the finest collaborations between Evans and Davis, and has gone down in jazz history as a monument of orchestral jazz. All the opera’s best-known numbers are here, including Bess, you is my woman now, It ain’t necessarily so, There’s a boat that’s leaving soon for New York, and of course Summertime.

    A long time ago, back in the 1970s, period instrument performances mostly sounded sweet and low down. Part of the reason for this was the catgut strings and the lower tuning, and part of the reason was that players seemed to prefer a mellower and rounder tone. But time passed and period instrument performances became more and more strident until they became nearly painful to listen to by the late '80s.
