Casino is a more pop-oriented album. Blue Rodeo seem to have finally established their fine blend of harmonies and laid-back country-rock à la the Band and Bob Dylan. Produced by Pete Anderson (Dwight Yoakam, Michelle Shocked).

The follow-up to their critically acclaimed “New World”, it returns to a single disk format and will have a very pronounced theme dealing with the struggles of mental illness and depression. As always though, while the music may address darker issues, it will also consist of uplifting and beautiful melodies, giving the overall feeling of hope and redemption.

She is sensual, feminine, and smooth… that is, until the guitars start roaring. The Dame will take you back to the romantic era of the roaring twenties. Hidden back room bars, smokey night clubs, liquor in coffee mugs… when gentlemen were stylish, and ladies were sexy chic. We like to describe our music as the sexy version of progressive rock. Our debut album will be released in February 2018 in art nouveau cinema Pathé Buitenhof in our hometown The Hague. Time to drink champagne and dance on the table!

This stalwart independent label, headquartered in San Francisco, began in a small Ann Arbor club and grew into one of the most important imprints in blues. Thirty-three tunes ricochet between the potent old-school Chicago stylings of Buddy Guy and Junior Wells's classic "Hoodoo Man Blues" and Big Walter Horton'ss swinging shuffle "Put the Kettle On" to the intriguing pop-folk hybrid of Roy Rogers and Norton Buffalo and the dashing retro-nuevo guitarisms of Nick Curran & the Niteflies to the brawny Texas-schooled sounds of Omar & the Howlers and Smokin' Joe Kubek & Bnois King. The label's Delta blues side is underrepresented, although James Cotton and Elvin Bishop offer two great flavors of cottonland grind.

This symphony probably may not have changed musical history from the moment it was first written, in Salzburg in early 1774 by the 18-year-old Mozart. But it crystallises the young man’s emerging compositional self-confidence, and that shows him spreading his wings in symphonic music just as he had already started to do in the opera house and in his chamber music.

Soundtrack | Country: Italy | Label: Bacci Bros Records

Ennio Morricone is probably the most famous film composer of the 20th century. He is also one of the most prolific composers working in any medium. No exact figure is available, but he's scored over 500 films over several decades, plus many dozens of classical works. While his film scores have been in almost every imaginable musical style (and for almost every imaginable kind of movie), he is most identified with the "spaghetti Western" style of soundtracks, which he pioneered when providing the musical backdrop for the films of director Sergio Leone. Morricone's palette is extraordinarily diverse, drawing from classical, jazz, pop, rock, electronic, avant-garde, and Italian music, among other styles. Esteemed by such important figures in modern music as John Zorn (not to mention contemporary directors like Martin Scorsese), he is increasingly placed among not just the finest soundtrack composers, but the most important contemporary composers of any sort.

The tough thing to do with a jazz trio of any kind is to make an impression. There are lots of trios out there—economically it's the best configuration if one wants to take home a little cash from the gig—and a lot of them are good. A few are great. Nearly all of them are more-than-competent, but… there's no there there. Not so Bastet, who now seem to be tottering on the ragged edge of greatness, as evidenced by the music on Freedom is a State of Mind. The last time the Bay Area-based jazzers released an album, they were a quartet.

“I think it’s important to be ambitious,” asserts Echo Bloom frontman and founder Kyle Evans. “When I started this band, that was a challenge that I set for myself. I wanted to make something really beautiful, whether it’s folk music or rock music or something more experimental. The medium and the people I’ve worked with have changed, but I’ve always tried to hold on to that fundamental idea.”
