Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1977 album from the Smoky Robinson-less Soul outfit who managed to maintain a healthy career outside of the shadow of their former leader Like their final Motown album the Power of Music, the group's Columbia debut, Love Crazy, was produced in it's entirety by Pete Moore, with all the songs written by him and Billy Griffin (who replaced lead singer and group co-founder Smokey Robinson in 1973) including two co-penned by Billy's brother Donald (who had also joined the team as lead guitarist in 1973 and was featured for the first time on the cover art). Acclaimed arranger John Barnes along with famed bassist Willie Weeks and drummer James Gadson were among the personnel on the album.

From the beginning, Frank Zappa cultivated a role as voice of the freaks - imaginative outsiders who didn't fit comfortably into any group. We're Only in It for the Money is the ultimate expression of that sensibility, a satirical masterpiece that simultaneously skewered the hippies and the straights as prisoners of the same narrow-minded, superficial phoniness. Zappa's barbs were vicious and perceptive, and not just humorously so: his seemingly paranoid vision of authoritarian violence against the counterculture was borne out two years later by the Kent State killings.

Features 24 bit remastering and comes with a mini-description. I have waited a lifetime for this album to be put on CD and I have finally gotten my wish. With Sound Reason is a funky masterpiece of a CD. This CD has really great stand out cuts on it. Georgiana is a great slow to mid-tempo groove that really takes this CD to the stratosphere. Other funky grooves are Come in out of the Rain, Igbob Shuffle, and Boy from Witbank, one of my personal favorites. The other three songs are really nice slower romantic and latin influenced pieces. Sonny Fortune does a great job on this album. Get it if like swinging late 70's jazz. A classic gem of a CD.

One of the reasons that Mostly Other People Do the Killing has remained one of the most vital forces in modern jazz over the past decade is their willingness to embrace the joy and humor that can be found when playing music. From naming their tracks after small towns in Pennsylvania to the satirical dig at America’s culture of violence that gives them their name, the music is bright and buoyant and always a lot of fun. This album was recorded live during the Jazz and Beyond Improvised Music Festival on October 29th, 2012 at Jazz Klub Hipnoza in Katowice, Poland.

Originally Released in the summer of 1967, it seemed to have disappeared - that is, until now in this sparkling remastered stereo release (first time on CD). Considered by fans of Hayes and Gonsalves to be one of the hardest-to-find and most sought-after of their recordings. They first joined forces on “Just friends” in a rarity in more ways than one; British jazzmen rarely joined their US counterparts gathering around a microphone, let alone as equals. This follow-up was financed by London saxophonist Jack Sharpe, this album is a real revelation of just how advanced and unafraid these fine musicians were to push the borders out and demonstrate here, what truly accomplished talents they were! With his usual flair for explaining what you are about to hear, Tubby biographer and fellow saxophonist Simon Spillett has written an excellent essay to accompany the release.
