1990s Puzzle of Hearts is an album surprisingly similar to both Djavan and Oceano (both released in 1989), all of which are on Columbia Records, no less. In fact, no less than seven of the nine tracks on Djavan and Oceano (which are essentially the same album) make up the bulk of Puzzle of Hearts. The new tracks here are the title track, a soft sort of MPB in English, "Being Cool," another English number with a bouncier samba-based rhythm to it, and "Amazon Farewell," one more English work with a thumping bassline underneath a more exotic melody. While the album isn't necessarily particularly original when compared to the items released only a year prior, it's a nice piece of work.

60s Summer of Love is a stunning collection of 60 tracks that capture the sometimes groovy, psychedelic and populist feel as well as laid back and chilled-out mood of the mid to late 60s through to the early 70s. This was the time when teenagers were discovering and listening to "pseudo-psychedelic" anthems, a groovy collection of mind expanding folk-rock hits from the hip artists of that time and genre, wearing colourful and way-out fashions with flowers in their hair.

Recorded at Santo Studios in Oakland California over the past 3 years with a mostly new cast of musicians, Bloom continues the trajectory of JOMF’s explorations of song and sonic experimentation. The band is moving more slowly these days, with core members Tom Greenwood and Michael Whittaker living in the more rural corners of Northern California. Bloom is a patiently crafted record that tells its story through shifting emotional and sonic environments, starting in a vacant lot in far west Oakland, where the freeway meets the edge of the city. The lot was a storage area for the 50 ft. long and 8 ft. high steel pipes that would become the footings for the new Bay Bridge, sunken into the floor of the San Francisco Bay. The band met there regularly to play, and recorded dozens of hours of sounds from the beautifully reverb drenched atmosphere inside the pipes. The lyrically reflective songs that follow are coming through the lens of solitude, propelled by simple and often fragile structures.
