Fabrice Bony is a multi-instrumentalist and composer from France. He was born in 1970 and began to study the drums at the age of six. He obtained a professional music degree from Centre Musical et Créatif de Nancy in 1991.In 1992, he was a member of a blues trio called Shotgun Blues which opened for John Lee Hooker in San Francisco that year. The following year he was asked by Ange's bass player to tour with that band as their drummer on their "Les larmes du Dalaï-Lama" tour. Following that, Fabrice toured and recorded with many French and American blues and rock bands and singers, including Nino Ferrer, Tomcat Blake, Clifton Chenier, Rictus and Dorothée Daniel. A round or a canon is a musical form in which several voices or instruments perform the same material, but with staggered entries. For example, in a three-voice version of "Row, row, row your boat," some people don't get to sing the first line until others are singing "Gently down the stream," and others don't get to sing it until "Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily." The last group to sing the opening line is the last to sing "Life is but a dream," and they sing it all by themselves. In a so-called mensuration canon, all of the voices end at the same time, which means that the later you enter the canon, the faster you have to sing – or the more you have to compress - to reach the end at the same time as everybody else. One might predict that as the canon approaches its end, its density increases arithmetically. And it does – with vertigo-producing results.

It is only fitting that jazz giant Hank Jones' last recording was made in Japan. The Japanese people loved him and he loved them back. He toured Japan numerous times and made many recordings for Japanese labels. This recording was made in Tokyo on February 24, less than three months before his passing on May 16, 2010.
Produced by Yasohachi "88" Itoh, who produced and released the first recording of the Great Jazz Trio with Jones, Ron Carter and Tony Williams back in 1975…

Like Eric Dolphy before him, Jackie McLean sought to create a kind of vanguard "chamber jazz" that still had the blues feel and – occasionally – the groove of hard bop, though with rounded, moodier edges. Destination Out! was the album on which he found it. Still working with Grachan Moncur III and Bobby Hutcherson – his direct spiritual connection to Dolphy – McLean changed his rhythm section by employing drummer Roy Haynes and bassist Larry Ridley. This combination proved a perfect balance of the four elements. The program is four tunes, three of which were written by Moncur.
